Your own web address

Registrants can reach you at register.yourorganization.org instead of yourorganization.entrywick.com, with a valid certificate, usually within ten minutes of your adding two DNS records.

Your entrywick.com address never stops working. It is the thing everything falls back to.

Adding one

  1. Type the address you want. It has to be a name under your domain — register., tickets., www. — not the bare domain itself. A bare domain cannot point at another service with a CNAME; that is a rule of DNS, not ours, and we tell you so rather than letting you spend an afternoon on it.

  2. Copy the two records we show you into your DNS:

  3. Wait. We check every five minutes. Check now does it immediately if you would rather not wait.

Why two records

The CNAME sends traffic to us. The TXT proves the address is yours today.

Only the TXT authorizes a certificate. A CNAME on its own can be left behind by whoever used a name before you and picked up by anybody who notices — so a certificate is never issued on a CNAME alone, and the screen will keep saying the TXT has not arrived until it has.

What we will not accept

  • A bare domain. Use www. or a name of your own choosing.
  • An EntryWick address. Those are ours.
  • An address already in use by another organization. If it is yours, remove it there first.
  • A name too close to one people trust — a letter away from a payment brand or from EntryWick itself. A registration form asking for card details on such a name is a phishing page, and it would be wearing our certificate.

After it is live

  • It becomes the address every link is built on: public pages, registration forms, ticket links, household links, calendar files and the picture shown when somebody shares a link.
  • Your entrywick.com address sends visitors on to it. Links already sent out on either address keep working.
  • The admin panel and signing in stay on your entrywick.com address.

If it stops working

We check once a day that the records are still right and the address still answers. If it fails:

  • You are emailed the first day it fails — almost always somebody changed a DNS record.
  • Nothing breaks for your registrants: your entrywick.com address still works.
  • After seven days we stop using the custom address and email you again. Start again puts it back, with the same two records.

Removing one, or changing plan

Removing an address keeps it redirecting to your entrywick.com address for 30 days, then it stops. A link in somebody's calendar outlives the decision to stop using the address it was built on.

If your plan stops including a custom address, nothing breaks that day: the address keeps working and becomes read-only for 30 days. Moving back up inside that month stops the clock with nothing lost.
